What Are Blogging Comments and How To Comment on a Blog

So what exactly are blog comments?

The best blogs start dialogues between the blog’s writer and its readers. This is usually done through blog comments.
Look at any busy blog. You’ll notice that there is usually a brief line at the end of each post that says something like “10 comments for this post.” When you click on that line, you’ll bring up those 10 comments.
When writing a blog, you want people to not only read your posts, but to comment on them. This shows that what you’ve written has impacted people. It’s caused them to think, to ponder your point.

What are the benefits?

Often, comments add to your post. Readers may add new points to the original discussion. They may bring up new theories. They may even cause you to change your mind.
Comments, though, don’t just happen. The vast majority of your readers will never take the time to comment on your posts. You can take steps, though, to encourage reader comments. The best is to end your blog posts with an open-ended question. For instance, if you’re writing about Barack Obama’s stimulus plan, you might end your post by asking your readers whether they think the plans will actually help or hurt the economy.
It’s important, too, to moderate your comments. You may receive plenty of spam comments. These may be barely disguised advertisements for adult Web sites or simple links to sites selling a product. Make sure to delete these “comments” quickly. It’s disappointing for your readers to click on the “comments” link only to find a long list of spam messages waiting for them.

Watch out for spam!

Many visitors will leave meaning less and often short comments on your blog just to get backlinks to their own websites. The volume of these spam comments can be quite large and as high as 80% of the comments you get.
Comments spamming your blog like this just need to be deleted and forgotten!
